Chen Weiheng

Chen Weiheng is Director of the Engineering Research Center of the Ministry of Education for Intelligent TCM Orthopedics Treatment and Sports Rehabilitation. He is also Director of the Orthopedics Research Institute of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and Academic Leader of the Orthopedics Center at the Third Affiliated Hospital of the same university.

He serves as Vice Chair of the TCM Special Committee of the Pharmacopoeia Commission of the People’s Republic of China. He is Chair of the Orthopedic Drug Research Professional Committee of the China Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He is President of the Orthopedics Branch of the Chinese Association for Research and Advancement of Chinese Medicine. He also chairs the Cross Disciplinary Research and Achievement Transformation Platform for Bone Disease Prevention and Treatment of the China Association of Chinese Medicine.

He is a national candidate of the New Century Hundred Thousand and Ten Thousand Talents Project. He receives special government allowances from the State Council. He is recognized by the National Health Commission of the PRC as a young and middle aged expert with outstanding contributions. He is a recipient of the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award.

He has more than forty years of clinical research and teaching experience in orthopedic diseases. His work focuses on integrating traditional Chinese and Western medicine in the treatment of complex orthopedic conditions. He has led the development of more than ten diagnostic and treatment standards and guidelines for knee osteoarthritis and osteonecrosis of the femoral head at national and international levels.
